First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at lungs removed from 74 people with cystic fibrosis during transplant to see how bacteria and chemistry differ from one area to another. Researchers took samples from each lobe and used DNA sequencing to identify which bacteria were present and how active they were. The goal was to better understand why infections vary across the lung, which could lead to new ideas for treatment. No new therapies were tested.
