Can pancake topping power your ride? scientists test maple syrup for cyclists

NCT ID NCT07389837

Summary

This study aims to find out if maple syrup can be used as a natural sports drink to help trained male cyclists perform better. Researchers will compare four different drinks—a fake drink and three with increasing amounts of maple syrup—to see if more syrup helps cyclists finish a 20-kilometer time trial faster. They will also measure how the body uses energy from the syrup and check for any stomach discomfort.
