Could a breathing trick boost jaw pain relief?
NCT ID NCT05272488
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a simple nerve stimulation technique (using deep breathing to activate the vagus nerve) to standard manual therapy can better reduce pain and improve jaw movement in people with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Sixty adults with jaw muscle pain will be split into two groups: one gets manual therapy alone, the other gets manual therapy plus vagus nerve stimulation. The goal is to see if the combined approach leads to less pain and better quality of life.
