Summary

This phase 2 trial tests a combination of four drugs—mannatide, two chemotherapy drugs, and an immunotherapy—as a first treatment for people with advanced stomach or gastroesophageal junction cancer that has spread or come back. The study will enroll 52 participants to see if the combo shrinks tumors and controls the disease. Researchers will also monitor side effects and quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

mannatide, oxaliplatin, capecitabine, tislelizumab

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new first-line treatment option for people with advanced stomach cancer, potentially shrinking tumors and extending life.

What could go wrong

This is an early phase 2 trial with only 52 people, no comparison group, and it hasn't started yet. The combination may cause significant side effects and may not work better than existing treatments.
