Hope for chemo patients: drug may shield nerves from damage
NCT ID NCT00727922
Summary
This study tested whether a drug called mangafodipir could protect against nerve damage, a common and often disabling side effect of the chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin. It involved 23 cancer patients who were already experiencing moderate nerve pain but needed to continue oxaliplatin treatment. The goal was to see if adding mangafodipir could prevent the nerve damage from getting worse, allowing patients to continue their cancer therapy.
