Scientists test new malaria shot in first human volunteers

NCT ID NCT02014727

Summary

This early-stage study tested the safety and immune response of a new malaria vaccine candidate. It involved 66 healthy adults from Europe and Africa, some with prior exposure to malaria. Volunteers received three shots of the experimental vaccine with different immune-boosting additives to see how their bodies reacted and if they produced protective antibodies.
