Scientists infect volunteers with malaria to aid future vaccine research
NCT ID NCT04083508
Summary
This study aims to safely create a 'human challenge' model for a type of malaria called Plasmodium vivax. Six healthy Thai adults will be deliberately infected via mosquito bites to see if the infection process works reliably and is safe. The main goals are to collect infected blood samples for future research and to learn how the human body first responds to this malaria parasite.
