Magnetic brain therapy challenges electric shock treatment for depression

Summary
This study compares two treatments that use controlled seizures to treat severe depression: magnetic seizure therapy (MST) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Researchers want to see which treatment works better at reducing depression symptoms and causes fewer side effects, particularly on memory and thinking. The study will include 60 adults with severe bipolar depression or depression that hasn't improved with standard medications.
