Magnets could replace CPAP machines for sleep apnea

NCT ID NCT02431507

Summary

This study is testing a new magnetic device for people with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea who can't tolerate CPAP machines. Ten participants will receive a small magnet implanted in their neck, plus a removable external magnet worn during sleep that pulls the airway open. Researchers want to see if this approach is safe and practical as an alternative treatment.
