Magnetic mapping may spot hidden cancer cells in stomach and esophagus cancers

NCT ID NCT05899985

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new magnetic method to find cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes in people with stomach or esophagus cancer. About 60 adults who are scheduled for surgery to remove their cancer will receive a magnetic tracer injection before their operation. Doctors will then use a special scanner and probe to see if the tracer helps detect cancer cells that standard tests might miss. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and can improve the accuracy of cancer staging.
