Zapping the brain to ease back pain?

NCT ID NCT03973788

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether a single session of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) could reduce pain sensitivity in people with chronic low back pain. Researchers used a magnetic coil placed on the scalp to stimulate a specific brain area, measuring changes in pain thresholds immediately after and one week later. The goal was to see if this non-invasive, drug-free approach could offer a new way to manage chronic pain.
