Invisible ink could replace permanent tattoos for radiation therapy
NCT ID NCT07095114
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a special ink called Magic Ink that is only visible under UV light, used to mark the skin for daily radiation treatment in breast cancer patients. The goal is to see if it is as safe and effective as standard permanent tattoo ink, while being less noticeable. Thirty women with early-stage breast cancer will receive the Magic Ink tattoo and be followed for side effects and ease of treatment setup.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Magic Ink (UV-visible tattoo ink)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could make radiation treatment setup easier and less painful, while improving body image by hiding the tattoo marks.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-phase study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The ink might not stay visible or could cause skin reactions.
