Summary
This study looked at 10 people with rare genetic conditions that cause very low cholesterol levels. Researchers measured the density of a protective pigment in the macula (part of the eye) to see if it is linked to low levels of carotenoids and vitamins. The goal was to better understand why some patients still develop vision problems despite vitamin treatment.
