Amniotic gel could patch eye holes without surgery

NCT ID NCT06433284

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests a new gel made from donated amniotic membrane that can be injected into the eye to help close large macular holes. The gel is compared to the current standard surgery where a tiny flap of the eye's own tissue is used. About 26 adults with large macular holes will take part to see which method works better for vision and hole closure.
