Amniotic gel could patch macular holes without surgery

NCT ID NCT06433284

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a new gel made from donated amniotic membrane to repair large macular holes, a cause of vision loss. The gel is injected into the eye to help close the hole, and researchers will compare it to the standard flap surgery. About 26 adults with large holes will take part to see which approach works better for vision and hole closure.
