New pill tested to help patients with low platelets avoid dangerous bleeding

NCT ID NCT06287567

Summary

This study tested a daily pill called lusutrombopag in Chinese adults with persistent or chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition where the immune system attacks platelets, increasing bleeding risk. The goal was to see if the drug could safely raise and maintain platelet counts in patients whose previous treatments had failed. Participants took the pill for up to 12 weeks while researchers monitored their platelet levels and any side effects.
