Researchers look back at medical records to see how a blood disorder drug performs outside clinical trials

NCT ID NCT06851065

Summary

This study looked back at the medical records of 418 adults in the US with a lower-risk type of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a bone marrow disorder. The goal was to understand how patients fared in real life when treated with the drug luspatercept for anemia, compared to another standard treatment. Researchers collected information on treatment patterns, side effects, blood transfusion needs, and survival to learn about the drug's real-world effectiveness.
