First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at 110 children aged 2-10 having surgery under general anesthesia. It compared two common breathing machine modes (volume-controlled vs. pressure-controlled) to see which one causes less lung collapse (atelectasis). Doctors used lung ultrasound to check for collapse before the children woke up. The goal was to find out if one mode is better for preventing lung problems in kids.
