Ultrasound vs. x-ray: which is better for spotting pneumonia?

NCT ID NCT04210102

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study compares lung ultrasound (LUS) and chest X-ray (CR) for diagnosing community-acquired pneumonia in 47 emergency room patients. The goal is to see if LUS, a noninvasive and easy-to-use tool, can accurately detect pneumonia and potentially reduce unnecessary antibiotic use. Participants are adults with suspected pneumonia who have not had any prior imaging for their current illness.
