Simple ultrasound may predict who needs oxygen after surgery

NCT ID NCT07515001

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple, non-invasive lung ultrasound can help doctors predict which patients will need extra oxygen or have lung complications after major surgery that is not on the chest. Researchers will follow 97 adults aged 18-65 who are having long surgeries (3 hours or more) under general anesthesia. The goal is to see if the ultrasound score is linked to oxygen needs and lung issues like pneumonia or collapsed lungs in the first day after surgery.
