Doctors test simple scan to safely wean tiniest babies off breathing machines

NCT ID NCT06140615

Summary

This study is testing whether a lung ultrasound scan can help doctors better decide when it's safe to remove a breathing tube from a newborn with respiratory distress. Researchers will scan the lungs of 71 babies before and after the tube is removed to see if the scan score predicts whether the baby can breathe on their own. The goal is to find a more reliable tool to guide this critical decision and potentially avoid the need to reinsert the tube.
