Cleaning hepatitis b from donor lungs could save more transplant patients

NCT ID NCT07189377

Summary

This study is testing a new method to safely use lungs from donors who have Hepatitis B for patients who need a lung transplant but don't have the virus. Doctors will clean the donor lungs outside the body using a special UV light treatment, then give the transplant recipient antiviral drugs. The goal is to prevent the recipient from getting Hepatitis B, which could make more donor lungs available and save more lives.
