Could a slightly warmer cooler save more transplanted lungs?
NCT ID NCT05898776
Summary
This study is testing if storing donor lungs at 10°C (50°F) is as safe as the current standard of packing them on ice. It aims to reduce the risk of severe lung failure after transplant, which is a major complication. The trial will compare outcomes for about 300 lung transplant patients whose donor lungs are stored at one of these two temperatures.
