Hepatitis b donor lungs: a new hope for transplant patients?

Summary

This study tests whether lungs from donors with hepatitis B can be safely transplanted into people who do not have the virus. The lungs are treated with UV light and antiviral drugs to kill the virus before transplant. Twenty recipients will be monitored for 6 months to see if they stay free of hepatitis B.
