New hope for lung transplant patients: drug soak for donor lungs
NCT ID NCT07410312
Summary
This early study is testing if adding a drug called Anakinra to the fluid that preserves donor lungs before transplant can prevent a serious complication called primary graft dysfunction. The complication causes low oxygen levels and lung inflammation after surgery. About 20 lung transplant patients will be randomly assigned to have the drug added to their donor lungs or to receive standard care.
