Could overnight lung storage make transplants safer?

NCT ID NCT04601818

Summary

This study tested a new method for storing donor lungs before a transplant. Researchers wanted to see if keeping lungs at a specific cold temperature (10°C) overnight allowed them to safely delay the transplant surgery until morning. They compared the outcomes of 45 patients who received these lungs to patients who had standard transplants, looking at serious complications and one-year survival.
