NCT ID NCT06821139
First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at nearly 29,000 adults who had non-cardiac surgery in British Columbia, Canada. Researchers wanted to see how often doctors used a special breathing method called lung protective ventilation, which can prevent serious breathing problems after surgery. They also checked if the COVID-19 pandemic changed how often this method was used. The study did not test any new treatments, but simply observed past medical records to understand current practices.
