Breakthrough lung scan uses safe gas, no radiation

NCT ID NCT01280994

Summary

This study is testing a new type of MRI scan that uses a safe, inhaled gas called xenon to create detailed pictures of how the lungs are working. Researchers want to see if this method, which doesn't use radiation, can better detect and monitor lung diseases like pulmonary fibrosis by showing gas exchange in the lungs. The study will include both healthy volunteers and people with diagnosed lung disease to compare the results.
