Scientists trick healthy lungs to unlock secrets of inflammation

NCT ID NCT02392442

Summary

This study aims to understand how the lungs start and stop inflammation, which is the body's response to infection. Researchers will study healthy, non-smoking adults by placing a small amount of a harmless substance that mimics bacteria into a tiny part of the lung. They will then collect lung fluid and cells to see how the body reacts over time, focusing on tiny molecules called microRNAs.
