Can a simple breathing trick stop lungs from collapsing during surgery?

NCT ID NCT07325812

Summary

This study aims to find the best way to prevent lung collapse in adults having lower back surgery while lying face-down under general anesthesia. Researchers will compare doing a special breathing maneuver just once at the start of surgery to doing it repeatedly every hour during the operation. They will use a safe, non-invasive ultrasound to check for lung collapse and measure breathing function.
