New scan technique aims to protect healthy lungs during cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT07312682
Summary
This study looked back at existing medical records to see if using special 4DCT scans to create a map of a patient's best-working lung tissue could help guide radiation therapy. Doctors compared standard radiation plans to new plans designed to avoid these healthy lung areas, aiming to see if this approach reduces lung damage while still effectively treating the tumor. The analysis involved 202 patients who had already completed their lung cancer treatment.
