Inhaled tracer could spot radiation lung injury early

Summary
This study explores whether a special MRI scan using an inhaled gas (hyperpolarized xenon-129) can help doctors see and predict lung damage caused by radiation therapy in lung cancer patients. About 70 participants, including healthy volunteers and lung cancer patients receiving radiation, will undergo the experimental scan. The goal is to improve detection of side effects, not to treat the cancer itself.
