Scientists test new drug duo in battle against Tough-to-Treat lung cancer

Summary
This study tested whether adding a new drug called veliparib to an existing chemotherapy (temozolomide) works better for people with small cell lung cancer that has come back or stopped responding to prior treatment. The goal was to see if the combination could help control the cancer for longer. About 100 patients were randomly assigned to receive either the two-drug combo or the chemotherapy plus a placebo pill.
