Needle vs. scope: which ablation method wins for lung cancer?

NCT ID NCT06503744

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study compares two minimally invasive procedures—transthoracic (through the chest wall) and transbronchial (through the airways)—to destroy early-stage lung cancer tumors using heat. About 110 adults with stage IA peripheral lung cancer who cannot or choose not to have surgery will be randomly assigned to one method. The main goal is to see which approach completely ablates more tumors at 6 months, with fewer side effects.
