Chest tube trial aims to shorten hospital stays for serious lung infections

NCT ID NCT07247461

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a small chest tube to drain pus from a lung abscess helps patients recover faster than antibiotics alone. It will involve 84 adults hospitalized in Denmark with a large abscess. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the drainage procedure plus antibiotics or just antibiotics, to see which group has a shorter hospital stay.
