AI 'Digital Twin' of lungs could revolutionize lung disease tracking

NCT ID NCT07517393

First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study will follow 1000 adults for up to 10 years to see how often lung nodules, tumors, and other lung problems show up on a new type of CT scan called photon-counting CT. Researchers will also use artificial intelligence to create a virtual copy of each person's lungs, called a 'digital twin,' to better understand how lung changes happen over time. The goal is to improve detection and monitoring of lung diseases without extra procedures.
