Trial tests if patients can stop steroids for good
NCT ID NCT01940094
Summary
This study aimed to find the best way to keep a rare autoimmune disease called granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) in remission. It compared whether patients could safely stop taking the steroid prednisone entirely or if they needed to stay on a very low daily dose to prevent the disease from flaring up. The trial involved 159 adults whose disease was already under control, and they were followed for six months to see which approach worked better.
