New Low-Temp surgery may boost survival in returning throat cancer

NCT ID NCT04425265

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study tests if a newer, low-temperature plasma ablation surgery helps people with recurrent nasopharyngeal cancer live longer without the disease coming back, compared to standard high-frequency electrocautery. About 500 adults whose cancer returned at least 6 months after initial radiation will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. The main goal is to see which method better prevents cancer progression or death.
