First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested a clinical decision rule to help doctors identify children with cancer who have a low risk of severe infection when they develop a fever with low white blood cell counts (febrile neutropenia). The goal was to see if using this rule could safely allow some children to be treated at home instead of being admitted to the hospital, improving their quality of life. The study was stopped early and enrolled 63 children.
