First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a new, non-invasive treatment for PTSD using low intensity focused ultrasound (FUS) to gently stimulate a deep brain region called the amygdala. Sixty veterans with chronic PTSD will receive the treatment, and researchers will measure changes in symptoms and daily functioning over one month. The goal is to see if this safe, targeted ultrasound can reduce PTSD symptoms without surgery or medication.
