Immune-Calming therapy shows promise for hair loss
NCT ID NCT02557074
First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested whether low doses of IL2, a protein that helps regulate the immune system, could treat severe alopecia areata (patchy hair loss). 44 adults with at least 50% scalp hair loss that did not respond to standard treatments received either IL2 or a placebo. The goal was to see if IL2 could safely reduce hair loss to 25% or less of the scalp after 12 months.
