Can a new AI denoiser make Low-Dose CT scans crystal clear?
NCT ID NCT07759011
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a new image-processing method called Spectral Precise Image (SPI) intelligent denoising can produce high-quality CT images from low-dose scans, compared to the standard iDose4 method. About 80 healthy volunteers will undergo CT scans at both low and routine radiation doses. Radiologists will rate the images for quality and noise to see if SPI allows for lower radiation exposure without sacrificing clarity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- CT radiation scan with two image reconstruction methods: SPI intelligent denoising and iDose4
- What this could lead to
- If SPI produces better images at lower radiation doses, it could enable safer CT scans with reduced radiation exposure for patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage imaging study in healthy volunteers, so results may not apply to patients with different body types or conditions. Image quality is subjective and may not translate to better diagnostic accuracy.
