Allergy pill may ease agonizing bone pain for cancer patients

Summary

This study is testing whether the common allergy medication loratadine can prevent or reduce severe bone pain caused by drugs used to prepare for stem cell transplants. The trial involves 78 adults with lymphoma or multiple myeloma who are scheduled for stem cell transplants. Participants will receive either loratadine or a placebo pill while taking the transplant preparation drugs to see which group experiences less bone pain and maintains better quality of life.
