New shot could give months more relief for voice disorder

NCT ID NCT05158166

Summary

This study tested a new type of botulinum toxin injection (called DAXI) for people with adductor spasmodic dysphonia, a condition that causes involuntary voice muscle spasms. Researchers wanted to see if this injection worked better and lasted longer than the standard treatment (Botox), which typically wears off after about 3 months. The trial involved 22 adults who had previously been successfully treated with Botox for their voice disorder.
