New pill shows promise for rare hormone disorder in Long-Term trial
NCT ID NCT06712823
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study is testing the long-term safety and effectiveness of a daily pill called atumelnant for people with classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). The drug works by blocking a hormone receptor to help control excess androgen production. Researchers will monitor 150 participants who previously completed a Crinetics study to see if atumelnant can reduce the need for steroids and improve hormone levels over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
atumelnant (CRN04894)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new treatment option to better control hormone levels and reduce steroid use in people with classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
What could go wrong
This is an extension study, so it builds on earlier results. It is still in Phase 2, meaning it is not yet proven to be safe and effective long-term. Side effects or lack of benefit are possible.
