Arm cuff therapy may shield organs in High-Risk heart patients

NCT ID NCT07270887

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive treatment called remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) can reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, kidney problems, and death in people with very high-risk atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). RIC involves briefly inflating a blood pressure cuff on the arm to trigger the body's natural protective responses. The study will follow 2,800 participants for several years to see if regular RIC sessions help prevent serious events.
