New Long-Lasting pain shot could reduce need for opioids after surgery

NCT ID NCT07271979

Summary

This study is testing whether a new, long-lasting numbing medicine (liposomal bupivacaine) works better than a standard one (ropivacaine) at reducing pain after major abdominal surgery. Doctors will inject one of these medicines into the surgical area right before closing the incision in 146 patients. The main goal is to see which medicine provides better pain control in the first day after surgery and reduces the need for strong painkillers like opioids.
