New group therapy aims to ease loneliness in older psychiatric patients

Summary

This pilot study tests whether a group therapy program called Awareness, Courage, and Love Groups can help reduce loneliness in older adults admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The program is based on a type of therapy called functional analytic psychotherapy. The study will enroll 50 participants and measure how feasible and acceptable the program is, as well as its effects on loneliness and social closeness.
