Ancient foods vs. extreme heat: a simple meal to protect pregnant women and their babies
NCT ID NCT07489664
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple, traditional daily meal made from local foods can help pregnant women in rural Pakistan stay healthier in hot weather and give birth to healthier babies. Researchers will compare about 300 women who eat the special balanced meal with women who continue their usual diet, checking the mothers' health and their babies' birth weight and size. The goal is to see if this culturally acceptable, affordable food plan can protect mothers and newborns from the harmful effects of heat stress.
