New PET tracer may spot lobular breast cancer better than standard scan

NCT ID NCT05931302

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether a newer PET scan tracer, 68Ga-FAPI-46, can find more cancer spots than the standard 18F-FDG PET scan in people with lobular breast cancer. The standard scan often misses this type of cancer. About 40 adults with untreated lobular breast cancer will get both scans, and doctors will compare how many tumors each one finds. The goal is to see if the new tracer gives a more accurate picture of the cancer's spread.
